An essential shelf-item for keg maintenance. Use these o-rings along with the correct spiral retaining ring to get those “out-of-service” kegs back to work fast! You should also have removal tools and back-up valves as well.
First, determine if you have drop-in, threaded, or camber-type valves.
- Threaded type valves screw into the neck to install them. At the base of the valve is a lathe-cut gasket. This gasket may be different for specific threaded valve designs.
- Drop-in style valves are installed by dropping the valve into the key-way notches located near the upper edge of the keg neck. Once in place a stainless, spiral, two-layer thick, retaining ring is installed into the upper groove of the keg neck. This holds the valve in position and prevents tampering. Drop-in valves require a specific o-rings (not lathe-cut gaskets) according to the valve design model.
- Camber-style valves are installed by twisting them into the neck (similar to the bayonet mount style of a camera lens ). Then a single-layer, stainless retaining ring is installed into the upper groove of the keg neck to hold the valve in position. Like the drop-in valve, a specific o-ring is required at the base of the camber valve.
Only drop-in or camber type valves use o-rings. To determine which o-ring to use, look at the “beer valve” which is the ball shaped part of the valve at the top center. Check to see if it is a solid stainless ball bearing or rather a cone shaped poppet with a flat spot in the center.
- Drop-in style Micromatic valves with solid ball “beer valves” use code #102-005 o-rings.
- Drop-in or Camber style Micromatic valves with cone/poppet beer valves use code #102-481 o-rings.
See the separate page describing threaded-style Micromatic valves to determine the proper gasket. The valves must be removed from the keg using the proper removal/installation tools. The o-ring can be easily found on the base of each valve body. Choose the o-rings or gasket type by clicking the option button below. You will receive a package of 50 of your chosen seals. O-ring color (purple or black) may vary per current Micromatic specification.
